What happens when a couple has two different ideas in kitchen decorating? A professional style look complete with a large sized range such as that of a restaurant however it has to look sophisticated enough to be featured on the cover of a magazine. Then choices have to be made, is it hardwood floors or slate, maple or ash cabinets or cherry wood. Lastly the budget is another thing that needs to be considered.
A designer was asked to step in and decorate the whole thing. He starts by taking off the wall in the middle of the den and kitchen, and taking of the wall between the laundry area and kitchen. He suggests using the range as a focal point in the room. As all have agreed to the suggestion then the right appliances need to be bought. They all agree on purchasing a professional style range with lots of burners, double ovens and a grill and to fit all that all other appliance will be encased in cabinetry to create a softer look. This will help create more balance to the large range and downplay it.

The reconstruction of the old kitchen starts by taking of the old flooring and cabinets. Since there is an argument on what kind of cabinet colors are to be used the choices are on a light colored and simple design versus a more striking design with dark wood. The designer presents an option of being able to use a light cherry color with more simple lines and highlights. The house owners feel that both wants are met and agree to the compromise of colors and design of their cabinets. So the installation can now take place.
Once the installation of the purchased appliances and cabinets are all in place and the kitchen has been completely set-up it is shows a definite material for a magazine cover, the sophisticated and elegant slate floor to the beautifully colored cabinets in cherry wood. The range that is in stainless-steel has proven to be a suitable and good focal point for the newly renovated kitchen. The other appliances have been wisely hidden at the back of the cabinetry to create a softer look in the kitchen. The area is now more airy and open due to the effect of removing the walls separating the den and laundry area from the kitchen, and also with the raising of the ceiling. This compromise has served the couple well as they have all they wanted and needed in their new kitchen.
