Procedure:
First thing you would need to do is to take the drop cloth off its packaging and put it inside your washing machine. Pour 1 cup bleach into the basin followed by water. Make sure that the water is warm. After that, just leave the drop cloth there overnight to soak. The day after, proceed with the rest of your wash cycle. Re-do for another round to make sure that it is bleached thoroughly. Then, on the third time, wash the cloth using warm water. You would also need laundry detergent when washing it as well as a solution of hydrogen peroxide that would have a measurement of 1 cup with 3% of that. This is needed for bleach neutralizing. Then get it dried with the use of high heat. Note: you can use plastic bin that is meant for storage in place of washing machine in case you don’t have one.
Next thing you will be handling will be the foam. Get the foam and put in on your stool seat to be used as your template. Use a permanent marker to trace the foam around your seat. Then get your scissors and follow the line in cutting your foam. To achieve a smooth and even cut, just position the scissors perpendicular unto your foam. Note: carving knife, specifically the one that is electric, cuts foam the best.

Now you move on to work on the fabric. Now that you are done cutting the foam, you can now use it as a template. Get your pencil and draw a line on top parts of your cushions. Now do the same thing to the bottom parts. Give an allowance of half an inch more or less for the seam. Now following the line that you have drawn, you can now start cutting. You would be needing 4pcs of fabric to make 2 cushions. Calculate the total sum of the front portions’ length to the cushion’s 2 sides. Then cut out from the fabric the same length that you just measured but add an allowance of 1’ for the seam and 4’ for the width. Now do the same thing for the back of your cushion. You should have 2pcs for each cutout that you got from the fabric to make two cushions.

Now, get your fabric and choose two pieces. This is where your design will be painted. They will become your cushions’ top side. Measure each side and locate the midpoint. Then have 2 stripes taped off with a measurement of quarter inch in width. Now get your brush, specifically the 1’ one, and use that to paint the gap found on the lines that you just taped, with acrylic paint. You can let some fabric be visible beneath the pain to give a worn out effect. Now take away the tape. Once the stripes are completely dry, lightly pencil some letters on either side of your stripes. You can also do number is you want. Then get your liner brush and use that to get your drawing painted. After that, leave it to dry.

Now while you are waiting for the paint to dry in the fabric, get the perimeter of your seat cushion. Get your cotton cord. Cut it to the length of 4x the perimeter. Next, get your drop cloth. Have strips cut out from it measuring 2” in width with cords length. Cover the cord around with the fabric. Then use the mechanical zipper foot to sew it.

Now get your twill tape. Cut it to be 16 inch long. Do 8 of this. Gather the pieces of the fabric for all sides that you just cut. Now position them into place. Insert twill tape, (have 2 lengths of this) to the portion at the back where you will find the pieces to meet. The tape should be inserted at midpoint and the close of your pin seam. Do the same thing on the other side. Make sure that the fabric is snug. After that, have the seams that were just pinned sewn.

Next part of this procedure, get the fabric and put it into the cushion again, specifically the perimeter piece. Make sure that the seams are looking outwards. Now put the fabric that you just painted to the cushion. Have the side that has the design look downwards. Ensure that your design is correctly placed. Now have the piece that is meant for the seat pinned into the perimeter piece. In between that, put the piping in looking towards cushion. Then right where both ends connect, cross it. Now with your sewing machine, follow pin line when you start sewing. Cut off the allowance put in for the seam. Do the same procedure with the seat’s bottom, starting from the inside. Do not sew all the way. You would need to leave unsown space for foam cushion to enter.

Now flip the cover with the right part facing outwards. Put the cushion in. Close the opening by using a pin. Do a running stitch to connect it to each other using your all-around needle. Take off the pins and cut off threads. Apply fabric glue on the tip of your twill tape. This will prevent frays from happening. Your foam cushion can be washed using a washing machine. The same goes for the cover.
